The process of making ceramics can’t be rushed - this is a welcome escape from the immediacy of creating to order digitally
My preferred method of decorating is to 'print' onto the clay with coloured slips. This technique combines the attention to detail and structure that is rooted in my designers brain but the results are unpredictable and fresh. I love creating spontaneous and tactile designs that mimic various analog print effects I have experimented with in the past.
I tend to make soft slab pieces as these come together quickly, without giving me too long to dwell. I also enjoy throwing some shapes on the wheel when the mood takes me and the wheel isn't covered in a pile of crap that needs putting away!
